To give myself an idea of what to include in my website, I have investigated Christina Perri's actual website. I thought this would be very useful to research hers specifically because her song will have links and possibly forms of synergy to the website. Therefore these may be links that we also want to include in our website.
< This is the first page on the website, the picture of the artist covers the entire screen which familiarises the fans with Christina's appearance, this is a form of advertisement. The artists name is placed boldly at the bottom of the image, the font is used as a form of logo as it is consistence with her other products, e.g. as seen on her album cover for Human below.
^ Christina's website is a little confusing to use as it's not got the simple buttons that take you to the correct page, e.g. 'home', 'music', 'gallery'. Instead the only option is to scroll down where you'll find her newest music video, full screen and playing without command. This is another advertisement technique as it presumes the viewer is going to get caught up in the video and want to know how it ends, after this the viewer is likely to want to hear more of her work. If the video had not played then the individual may have just scrolled down, got bored and closed the tab, without actually hearing any of her work.
At the bottom of the page there's a list of tour dates, which have the option to buy tickets straight from the website making it easy and hassle free to purchase tickets. Then at the very bottom the is a button 'Enter Site' which takes you onto the section of the website that you can find what you're looking for, by using the search buttons.
^ Here are the search options on the website, there are many which provides her fans with entertainment and they're appropriately labeled. I've noticed that all the text on the website uses lowercase letters only. This is a form of branding that Christina explores through many of her products, as seen on her bracelets in the picture to the right. I quite like this theme as it stands out from the norm of using capital letters, however I don't think it's strong enough to be noticed in locations that aren't associated with her. Therefore feels a little pointless to me, of course she may have other reasons for the constant use of lower case letters, but it's not clear to the fans.
I like the page of photos that Christina has as it makes the fans feel included in her personal life, therefore they'll become more loyal. This is a feature I'm very interested in putting in my website. I also like the consistency of the plain colours, other than the pictures, as it makes the actual information stand out more.
