Human - Molly Cooke
This is our final version of the music video. We've removed the dancing scenes as they didn't link in with the narrative well enough, we've also re-filmed the singing section of Molly on the floor as the mise-en-scene wasn't to a high enough standard. We also filmed and edited the final scene where Molly finally has enough of Joe and throws him out. I'm very please with how the music video has turned out and I'm confident that our target audience will enjoy it.

Website - Molly Cooke
http://joecunnell.wix.com/better-molly-site
This is our website for our artist Molly Cooke. We used Wix.com to produce it as there are already many templates and formats available to base our work around. After looking through all the templates Joe and I decided that none of them really stood out to us and therefore we began building our website from scratch. However quite quickly it became apparent that this was very difficult, the structure looked very messy and we struggled to maintain an existing theme. We finally decided to cut our losses and start again using a template. Fortunately the format still had all our downloaded pictures on it's memory base, so it didn't take to long to get back to wear we where on the original attempted. We chose to use a fairly basic, natural theme of dull colours, mainly black, white and grey as this mirrors Molly's calm character. This theme is consistent in our digi-pack and music video, which is a form of synergy. We though briefly about included a merchandise page however one of the artists that I researched was Ed Sheeran and he has a whole nother website for his merchandise, and so we decided to follow in his footsteps and not include this in our website.

Question 2 Final script
Joe and I are planning to film this speech in a few days and add stills and screen grabs of the media forms we're disguising. This will make the question more interesting to watch and show a range of advanced skills by using Final Cut Pro X.
J: The first thing we'll be talking about is the links
between our products.
E: This includes colour, typography, themes, and imagery. We used dull, grey colours in both the website and the digi pack to match the theme in our music video.
J: In the music video we look into Molly's relationship and the depression and stress that it has brought her. We have used dull colours in our video, but not necessarily grey.
E: Grey is an individual colour and so only represents one emotion. In the video she is going through a lot of emotions, for example confusion, sadness and loneliness, before she gets the depressed stage. Towards the end of the video, the colours become more vibrant as Molly is standing up for herself, this mirrors the characters strength.
J: We used synergy through making our video and digi pack available on the website. This allows our target audience to have easier access to all our products.
E: This method of advertisement is used on professional websites that we researched into, such as Christina Perri’s official website, so we felt the need to include this on our website. Using branding is very important in the music industry. There are many definitions for what branding actually is but in short your brand is the way your customer perceives you.
J: We have used similar typography in our products to link them together, with a constant theme. This gives the audience another way to recognise Molly as a brand and performer which presents the products as more authentic.
E: For example we used the font 'American Type writer' in all our products as it fairly plain and simple, we felt this represented Molly as down the earth and grounded, therefore her fans will be able to relate to her personality.
J: This a form of synergy, this is the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects. As another form of synergy we used specific pictures from the digit pack, i.e. the poster of Molly on tour, on our website as well.
E: Linking the products is very important as each will help advertise the other.

E: Linking the products is very important as each will help advertise the other.
J: We don't have a specific logo that we used on each product as we felt this
would be very difficult to include in the music video. Instead of this we used
our font (American Type Writer) to present Molly’s name as a form of logo that
appears on each of our products.
E: We knew from looking at professional products that synergy plays a bit part in the advertisement of music products. An example of this in through the media is Disneys use of creating a CD, game, DVD and outlet, all from the same products. If we were to do this again it would be an idea to include a logo for Molly as another form of synergy because this will help the audience identify with the brand.
J: In hindsight we probably could have incorporated a logo into our video by presenting it at the same time as the name of the song and the artist.
E: The use of a theme throughout all the products has helped to bring them together and look more professional. We went for quite a quiet theme, we did not want the products to be flashy or overpowering, as this is not representative of Molly's characteristics.
J: The themes that are present in our music video includes; the idea of standing up for yourself. We showed this though the ending of the music video where Molly throws Joe out for not treating her right.
E:Another theme we explored is not letting other people push you around, no matter who they are. This is quite similar to the first theme however this theme can be seen as a metaphor within the music industry, as the artist must stick up for themselves and not let the conglomerate change their image. J: Another theme that we explored is the difficulties in an abusive relationship. We wanted to look into this as these situations are becoming more and more common therefore we felt the need to educate people of what is going on.
E: This is of course a very sensitive topic so we knew we had to be careful about how we represented it, we didn't want to cause offence or upset anyone. To prevent this from happening we conducted a survey to research how our target audience would like us to express this safely. One of the answers included “don’t show too much violence, just insinuate it”. We took this into account and decided to only show one physical fight between Joe and Molly however it’s clear that it isn’t the first time.
J: The survey was very helpful and we came to the conclusion we needed to take the abuse section very seriously, to prevent conveying the wrong message. The audience also really liked the idea of Molly standing up for herself in the end as this gives confidence and hope to those who might be in a similar situation.
J: We decided to use the name of a real record label, 'Atlantic Records' to promote our music video. We did this because it allowed us to add a sense of realism, for example by sending her on tour as a support act of one of the bigger artists at Atlantic Records.
E: This was very effective as it meant we could use the Atlantic Record logo on our products as another form of advertisement.
J: The image on our front cover of our divi pack is an edited still from our music video, this creates an effective relationship between the two.

Website - first DRAFT
Here is the link to our first draft of Joe and I's website. We've used similar themes to the music video and digi-pack, for example dull colours and the concept of taking a certain about of abuse (whether its verbal, physical or mental), before the individual finally sticks up for themselves and fights back. There are many areas to explore on her website, including personal information, a gallery, music and tour dates. We have used synergy linking all three products together, for example both the music video and digi-pack are featured on the website. This help to advertise all the products and gives the fans an insight into the rest of Molly's work.

Website analysis
To give myself an idea of what to include in my website, I have investigated Christina Perri's actual website. I thought this would be very useful to research hers specifically because her song will have links and possibly forms of synergy to the website. Therefore these may be links that we also want to include in our website.
< This is the first page on the website, the picture of the artist covers the entire screen which familiarises the fans with Christina's appearance, this is a form of advertisement. The artists name is placed boldly at the bottom of the image, the font is used as a form of logo as it is consistence with her other products, e.g. as seen on her album cover for Human below.
^ Christina's website is a little confusing to use as it's not got the simple buttons that take you to the correct page, e.g. 'home', 'music', 'gallery'. Instead the only option is to scroll down where you'll find her newest music video, full screen and playing without command. This is another advertisement technique as it presumes the viewer is going to get caught up in the video and want to know how it ends, after this the viewer is likely to want to hear more of her work. If the video had not played then the individual may have just scrolled down, got bored and closed the tab, without actually hearing any of her work.
At the bottom of the page there's a list of tour dates, which have the option to buy tickets straight from the website making it easy and hassle free to purchase tickets. Then at the very bottom the is a button 'Enter Site' which takes you onto the section of the website that you can find what you're looking for, by using the search buttons.
^ Here are the search options on the website, there are many which provides her fans with entertainment and they're appropriately labeled. I've noticed that all the text on the website uses lowercase letters only. This is a form of branding that Christina explores through many of her products, as seen on her bracelets in the picture to the right. I quite like this theme as it stands out from the norm of using capital letters, however I don't think it's strong enough to be noticed in locations that aren't associated with her. Therefore feels a little pointless to me, of course she may have other reasons for the constant use of lower case letters, but it's not clear to the fans.
I like the page of photos that Christina has as it makes the fans feel included in her personal life, therefore they'll become more loyal. This is a feature I'm very interested in putting in my website. I also like the consistency of the plain colours, other than the pictures, as it makes the actual information stand out more.

Digi Pack - First Draft
Here is the first draft of our digi pack which includes the front cover, the back page, the CD, a description of the artist, a poster and lyrics of her hit song 'Human'. We have chosen a grey scale theme as we think it captures the perfect atmosphere from her music video, this is because her difficult relationship drags her success down in all aspects of her life, for example her dance ability. We felt this made it seem as though there was a grey cloud following her wherever she went, therefore we shows a grey scale theme. We will complete some audience feedback then make some improvement before completing our final version.
